Internet marketers and many entrepreneurs all seem to have this illness. One of my biggest challenges is chasing the shinny fish lure. I seem to be like a fish in the crystal clear waters. I see this bright shiny lure that some fisherman put in the water and I instantly think it’s food. I swim – jump up in the water with excitement – I go back in the water and grab the lure because it seems like a great meal at the time. As an online entrepreneur, it’s really easy to get caught up in the next big thing, which seems to be our cure for success. What I have become aware of is it’s an illness that can cause extremely overwhelming feelings.

You’ll see online every day a new guru launching a new product that will help you generate leads, convert more sales and make more money. Once we get caught into the funnel of some of these marketers it becomes really hard not to want to buy their products and services. What’s really nuts is we start justifying to ourselves why we need it so much.

Although many of the products and services many great marketers launch are great, we should be aware that the more we take on the less likely we are to actually get anything done in our own businesses. It simply becomes too much to take on. The courses we end up buying end up on our shelves and we don’t always use the courses to their full advantage.

By buying all these courses, we become overwhelmed to a point where nothing gets done. Every time I hear an entrepreneur say they are really busy I start to question if anything is actually getting done in their business. I know this to be true because I’ve been in this game for seven years and I’m yet to be where I desire to be. It’s due to having too much information.

Here’s my new mindset for this year. I’m no longer going to buy anything this year until I have gone through all the courses I currently have and have truly mastered the material I have at hand. Once I’ve done that, I’ll give myself permission to continue on and learn something new.

I don’t know about you, but I get so overwhelmed at times with all these product launches that it gets to be overwhelming in itself. I suggest you become more like a hibernating beast that eats to last over the winter rather than that fish in the water that is constantly looking for the next big thing that will save your business. I consider buying so many products an illness that prohibits peoples’ success because nothing gets done in your actual business.
