I Am My Own Worse Enemy
  Brian Zimmerman 01-12-2010

I’m my own worst enemy.

There comes a time about once a month or two that I feel like just quitting and that I feel my efforts and hard work are not paying off and aren’t going to happen. I wake up pretty much every morning at 4 am so I can write and add hours to my day, which gives me more time to create and achieve. When I do this kind of routine for days and I don’t see results I start to question what I’m doing.

There comes a time from my studies of successful people that everyone feels like what they’re doing will not work or they feel like giving up and quitting. I can honestly tell you that I feel like this at least every month. It’s important to be able to get through these kind of times over and over if you’ll ever get to what you desire.

Did you know the Beatles played hours and hours every day in little bars with no pay?

Did you know Madonna and many others used to beg bar owners to play at night or sing at night?

I’ll tell you the genius of successful people. The genius of success people is not what you and I see. Let me repeat that…

The genius in highly successful people is not what you and I see, it’s what they do when nobody is looking.

So … the why me, poor me, little ego side of Brian wakes up this morning. I instantly have these crazy thoughts of what am I doing, nothing is working, and blah blah why me poor little victim Brian thoughts running through my head.

What’s crazy is that I notice these little thoughts run through my head around the same time every month. It has become a pattern so I’ve become aware of the pattern which assists me in overcoming them. What I do is I publicly announce them and I find by publically announcing myself sabotaging thoughts I tend to overcome them faster.

I know that consistent action will someday pay off. I understand that the Beatles, Madonna, and many other greats before me went through the same thing. I know I can also do it with what I want.

So learn to shake off the little voice in your head that tells you to stop, quit, and give up. You’ll want to learn your own self sabotaging thoughts so you can learn and find ways to correct them when they come about.
